Farm Grant Program
City of Ottawa Council approved a Farm Grant Program to provide financial relief to working farmers. The grant program will assist eligible farm property owners by allowing the June final tax instalment to be paid in December 2020.
Ontario Taxes and Covid 19 Relief Measures
WSIB Financial Relief Plan
The financial relief package allows businesses to defer premium reporting and payments until August 31, 2020. Businesses who report and pay monthly, quarterly or annually based on their insurable earnings are eligible for this deferral.
To continue to help reduce the financial burden on businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic, any repayment of deferred WSIB premiums will not begin before January 2021. We will provide more information on the repayment installment schedule for deferred amounts, along with 2021 premium rate information, in the fall.
Any employer participating in the financial relief package will have to report deferred amounts by October 31, 2020. Regular monthly and quarterly reporting and payment schedules will resume in September 2020 for all businesses.
Ontario Energy Board
To support families, small businesses and farms while Ontario plans for the safe and gradual reopening of the province, the Government of Ontario has introduced a new fixed electricity price of 12.8 ¢/kWh for customers that are on time-of-use (TOU) prices. Effective June 1, 2020, that price applies to electricity used at all hours of the day, seven days a week. Having the same price apply at all hours of the day is a more predictable way to pay for power at a time when Ontarians continue to work and learn from home.
Large Employer Emergency Financing Facility (LEEFF)
As a federal Canadian Crown Corporation established to manage investments assigned to it, CDEV has been mandated to implement the Government of Canada’s Large Employer Emergency Financing Facility in cooperation with Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) and the Department of Finance.
Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy
As a Canadian employer who has seen a drop in revenue due to COVID-19, you may be eligible for a subsidy to cover part of your employee wages, retroactive to March 15. This subsidy will enable you to re-hire workers, help prevent further job losses, and ease you back into normal operations.
Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA)
Interest-free loans of up to $40,000 to help cover operating costs during a period where revenues have been temporarily reduced due to the COVID-19 pandemic, available through most financial institutions.
EDC’s Business Credit Availability Program (BCAP)
To cover payroll and operating costs caused by the current economic situation.
BDC Co-Lending Program
Up to $12.5 million for your operational cash flow requirements, co-financed by BDC and your primary financial institution.
BDC Mid Market Financing Program
Junior loans ranging between $12.5 million and $60 million for medium-sized businesses particularly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and/or the recent decline in oil and gas prices.
FedDev Ontario
Regional Relief and Recovery Fund
The Regional Relief and Recovery Fund (RRRF) provides financial contributions (interest-free loans) to help support fixed operating costs of SMEs, where business revenues have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and they have been unable to access other Government of Canada measures.
The Fund, valued at more than $962 million nationally, is delivered by Canada’s six regional development agencies.
In southern Ontario, $252.4 million is available through FedDev Ontario.

Enabling Accessibility Fund (EAF)
Persons with a disability face additional barriers that prevent them from fully participating in their communities and workplaces. To address this, we are pleased to announce that $100,000 is available under Enabling Accessibility Fund (EAF) for small projects and $10,000 for youth.
- We are now providing 100% of the funding up to a maximum of $100,000 for small-scale construction, renovation or retrofit projects that enable persons with disabilities to live and work in more inclusive and accessible communities.

Enabling Accessibility Fund (EAF) – Youth
- Youths between 15 and 30 years of age can apply for funding up to $10,000 for accessibility projects.
- To quality, you need to be determined to make a difference in your community, and you want to develop valuable skills and gain key experience.
- The EAF’s youth innovation component engages and challenges youth leaders to volunteer and collaborate with local community-based organizations.
- Interested youth accessibility advocates can apply before October 30 online (www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/services/funding/enabling-accessibility-fund-youth-innovation.html) .
The goal of the Enabling Accessibility Fund program is to create more opportunities for persons with disabilities to participate in communities and workplaces across Canada.
Canada Student Service Grant (CSSG)
- CSSG will provide eligible post-secondary students and recent graduates the opportunity to serve their communities and receive a grant of between $1,000 and $5,000. They can count volunteer service hours from Jun. 25 to Oct. 31 toward the CSSG. www.Canada.ca/Iwanttohelp.
- The I Want to Help platform will provide post-secondary students and recent graduates access to volunteer service opportunities. Not-for-profit organizations and charities will be able to upload volunteer opportunities to this platform so that students can search and apply for opportunities in their communities. Volunteer opportunities must be for minimum of 2 hours a week for four weeks.

Student Work Placement Program (SWPP):
A new investment of $186 million supporting an additional 20,000 job placements for post-secondary students get paid work experience related to their field of study. For complete details please visit their website.
Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ):
Creating 10,000 new job placements for young people between the ages of 15 and 30 through the Canada Summer Jobs program. New funding of over $60 million will help expand the current work placement target from 70,000 to 80,000, creating 10,000 more placements. The program provides wage subsidies to employers so they can give quality work experience to young Canadians and help them develop the skills they need to transition into the labour market. List of eligible 120 organizations in Nepean employing over 225 young Canadians has been announced during the last several weeks.
Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS):
Creating over 3,500 new job placements and internships serving high-demand sectors such as health, community services, and information technology, and help other sectors to recover. Young Canadians can develop the skills and gain the experience they need to successfully transition into the labour market. For more information, please visit their website.
