Developing Your Pitch
At the end of this course you will be expected to pitch your business to a group of mentors and instructors. This is your opportunity to tell us your story, why your idea matters and why you are the team to make it happen.
The pitch format will vary depending on who you are pitching in front us however, each pitch contains the same key elements and you must be able to anticipate and answer questions presented by investors, judges or others.
To prepare for pitching, you need to develop a 30 second Elevator Pitch, a 5 minute pitch and a pitch deck (slide deck).
In many cases, you will present your pitch with the pitch deck but you must be prepared for audio only presentations. Ensure you know how to explain your idea in 30 seconds or less.
The Pitch Deck
Remember that when you are preparing a deck and developing your pitch, you want visuals and fast facts, not a slide full of unreadable text. Your words should express all the key points and the deck is simply a visual assist to spark interest and highlight key points. We will go further into the parts of a deck in our weekly lesson.
